War Fund Received Over Two Million From Racing in 1944 NEW YORK. N. Y.. May 31.— In a letter to Ashley T. Cole, chairman of the New York State Racing Commission, expressing his thanks for the action of the board in approving the first War Relief Day at the Jamaica meeting of the Metropolitan Jockey Club today, Winthrop W. Aldrich, president of the National War Fund, stated that his organization had received more than S2.000.000 from race tracks throughout the country last year. To that sum the five New York racing associations contributed 98,785.69. This included 45,939.37 from special War Relief days and 52,846.32 from the nine-day Victory Meeting conducted after the regular season closed.
