Boost Purses and Inaugurate Trainers Award at Wheeling WHEELING. W. Va., May 31 .— Wheeling Downs announced today an increase of purses and the inauguration of a trainers award for all races. John G. Masoni. executive secretary, said that there will be four 00 purses beginning tomorrow and four 00 purses. In the event that a race is split, both ends will carry 00. The trainers of the winning horses are to receive a 0 award. This is retroactive to opening day. Masoni said.
