The infection started from a slight scratch and was aggravated by rubbing against his coat sleeve. Trainer Tom Smith reported that Maine Chance Stables War Jeep came out of his Wood Memorial engagement with a slight fever. Post Graduate, owned by the La Favorita Farms, was under saddle the first time this morning since he was stricken with coughing. Trainer Carroll will resume training the three-year-old for future engagements. Trainer Rollie Hughes who has the San- ford Stud Farm horses at Belmont Park, reported that his charges are recovering from the coughing epidemic and he hopes to have some in competition the latter part of the Belmont meeting. Jockey John Adams was tendered the mount on Bymeabond in the Kentucky Derby and will make his decision tomorrow. Trainer Ivan Parke will ship Hoop Jr., owned by F. W. Hooper, to Louisville, Ky., for the Derby. His other three-year-old, Alabama, will be started in the Withers. Greentree Stables Dockstader will pass up the Derby for a stake engagement at Delaware Park on that date. Salto, owned by William Helis, was returned from Delaware Park, where he raced Tuesday. Mutuel manager Lou Walzers department functioned with its usual precision on the holiday despite the record handle of money. It balanced to the penny. Eddie Arcaro has been engaged to ride Millbrook Stables Alex Barth in Saturdays Grey Lag Handicap. Trainer Frank Kearns shipped several horses for racing at this track. ยป
