Busher Early Favorite For Santa Anita Derby Not More Than Ten Starters Likely for 0,000 Fixture ARCADIA, Calif., June 20. — The number of potential starters for the Santa Anita Derby ie gradually dwindling and it may be that not over 10 will go to the post for the 0,000 award. Those regarded as most certain starters are Busher, Sea Sovereign, Checkerhall, Best Effort, Valdina Streak and Bymeabond. Most likely among the "doubtfuls" are War Allies, Proclamation, Man O Glory, Careful Agent and Bismarck Sea. Busher and Sea Sovereign are firmly established as respective first and second choices while the third choice will in all probability be the Mexico City three-year-old Checkerhall. Bymeabond is looked upon as the fourth choice with the entry of Best Effort and Valdina Streak next in demand. Sea Sovereign and Busher will be popularly supported due to the fact that Santa Anita patrons know what they have accomplished. They have seen Busher in action three times and Sea Sovereign on four occasions. They know that Busher is a filly with a fine turn of speed and is unquestionably courageous. They also realize that Sea Sovereign has ample intestinal fortitude and is capable of running the. mile and one-eighth Derby route.
