VERO LUMEN, away fast, took command while still in hand, as GAY THORN began to falter; swerved in the last eighth and just lasted. ANXIETY, a strong factor from the start, suffered slightly as the winner swerved before her entering the last eighth and. recovering quickly, finished with determination. MORDECAI worked his way forward on the outside and, closing fastest, was wearing down the leadeis. SWIFT ACTION held on well. SAY NOMORE began lugeishlv. GAY THORN and PIGGY BANK stopped badly. WHAT NIGHT, inclined to bear to the inside when moving up on the outside in the first three eighths, withstood pressure gamely and, wearing down RELANTAGO. drew out. The latter, sent up between horses to reach the lead, increased big advantaee after reaching the stretch, but tired and could not withstand the winner. MADILL, in close quarters for a brief time early moved up gradually and held on fairly well. PORT WINE closed fast. VALDINA C.INO began well but was unable to keep" up. SUNNY BETTY displayed early speed. DOUBLE DUTY, forced back early, lacked speed when clear. Overweight — Sunny Betty, 1 pound. WHY ME, away well, bore out badly on the stretch turn, raced to the lead with a rush alter straightening up and had enough left to hold NEEDLES E E safe. The latter, away poorly and far back to the last quarter, came with good speed thereafter. BILLIES CHOICE, in hand earlv, did not rallv when called upon and faltered badly in the last eighth. ROSE EXHIBIT, also away poorlv. showed a fair effort. COUSIN MAMIE had speed but quit badly. HOCR EVE was through after a half. Overweight — Needles Eye. 2 pounds; Rose Exhibit. 3: Infinity G.. 2. Smith. WENT TO POST— 3:37J. OFF AT 3:38 CENTRAL WAR TIME. Start good from stall gate. Won driving; second and third the same. DRIDAS, on the inside early but eased hack and taken to the outside of SCOTCH PLEASE on the stretch turn, opened up a good advantage with a rush, but tired and barely lasted. EPIZAR, taken back at the start, bore out on the stretch turn end, closing with a ruvli, just missed. LITTLE MINX, a sharp factor from the start, held on well as he approached the finish directly behind the leaders. SCOTCH PLEASE had speed, came out slightly in the stretch and, although failing to withstand the leaders, held on fairly well, also finishing close on the heels of the winner. PLAYANTE had no mishaps. FERGIES MAID showed a poor effort. Overweight — Playante, 1 pound; Iscovette, 4£ ; Fergies Maid, 2. Claimed — Dridas, by Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Hosier. DARK LAD, on the outside from the start and in hand for a halt, responded when calledupon but tired in the last eighth and had to be strongly urged to continue well enough to last. OBSERVER, in close quarters early, moved up when clear and, holding on with determination, outfinished JLTKE BOX. The latter, tinder a good hold to the stretch, moved up in the drive but hung near the end. KING EPITHET, in hand early, did not rally, yet gave way very slowly in the drive. MARGARET T. began slowly and was held safe. MY SCOTT showed a flash of early speed. BOLO TIE, away fast and having speed, was taken back before reaching the turn, continued on the inside when racing into the lead and tired, but stalled off HARRIET SUE. The latter had speed from the start, also was eased back slightly on the turn and closed resolutely under strong handling. ST. JOCK, forced to race very v tie and probamly best, came with deteimination in the last tluee sixteenths. IHDITAURlS had no ninliapa. PUTITTHERE tired after showing speed to the last three sixteenths. HILLS PALM, never far back and forced wide on the stretch turn, got to the front under mild pressure and held on well to the end. LONG AGO moved up between horses in the stretch, but tired near the end. WHIICH GLINT rallied after reaching the final quarter and was getting to the leaders. TOMS LADD. far back early, closed fastest of all. BROADHEAD had speed, bore out on the stretch turn and tired thereafter. STE. FRANCES, taken back at the start, saved ground, yet never threatened. GIANT STAR, reserved off the pace, went with determination under strong riding in the final quarter and ouftinished DOUG BRASHEAR. The latter got to the front while in hand and held on stubbornly. SANTOIAN bettered her position gradually, was on the inside in the drive and hung on courageously. REPLICATION, cut off by OAKWOODS LAD at the first turn, raced under a good hold to the stretch, but tired after getting to the front. OAKWOODS LAD, taken to the niside rather sharply at the firs turn, had speed, bu gave way suddenly. TOY TOP was crowded back leaving the backstretch. PAMPHLET quit badly. Overweight— Giant Star. 1 pound; Santonian, 1; Pamphlet, 2. Attendance, 14,611; Total Mutuel Pool, 84,026. Returned to Public, 85,624, Less Breakage. -
