PUTITTHERE, forced to take up sharply when caught in close quarters after the beginning, moved up steadily when clear and, responding well when hard ridden through the stretch, wore down SWOON during the last sixteenth. The latter went to the front early, held a short lead when settled for the drive, but was unable to withstand the winner. PLAY HANDS saved ground when outrun to the stretch, was taken to the inside for the drive and finished fast under urging SHE DIDNT failed to stay after breaking alertly. CLAREMONT MISS began fast and held on well to the stretch, then tired. JOHN Q. PUBLIC could not keep up. BOY-PLIN was outrun throughout. FIFTH RACE 3-4 MILE out of chute. First of All. RIP AWAY, away slowly and outrun to the stretch, came to the inside thereafter and, responding to vigorous urging, disposed of the leaders and won going away. INCRESCENT, never far back, held a short lead when settled for the drive, but was unable to withstand the winner. FLORIZAN SAM, on the outside throughout, closed willingly under punishment. WILMA VAN moved up stoutly when sent to the inside for the stretch run, then weakened nearing the finish. COLONEL READ was never prominent and pulled up sore. OLD IRON, in trouble on the upper turn, failed to threaten thereafter. GOLD TINT quit after racing prominently to the stretch. SIXTH RACE 3-4 MILE out of chute. PERE MARKETTE was never dangerous and failed to rally when roused entering the stretch. SWEET RYTHM, weakly handled, was never dangerous. LUCKY B., going in improved form, worked way forward steadily and, responding to mild urging entering the stretch, wore down the leaders and won going away. SURF RIDER, a keen factor from the beginning, raced VELVET HEELS intodefeat when roused for the drive, but was unable to withstand the winner. VELVET HEELS began fast and made the pace to the stretch, then faltered. BEL REVERE, on the inside throughout, was in close quarters on the final turn and could not threaten when clear in the late stages TONEYS RULER was done after a half mile. L0STAHAT began sluggishly. HEPCAT tired. ANSTED, bothered by the riderless MY ZACA after the break, failed to recover MY ZACA lost his rider soon after the beginning. Scratched— 99209 Bonalita, 105. VALDINA SENTRY, far back to the stretch, closed strongly under brisk urging ASK ME made a good bid entering the stretch, then faltered. JUST DAYLIGHT had speed to the final quarter, then gave way OLIVIA L. tired badly after three-quarters. BRUSHWOOD BOY had early speed, but failed to stay. ELCAN, forced to take up sharply when caught in tight quarters on the first turn, failed to threaten thereafter. Attendance, 14,965; Total Mutuel Pool, 96,827.
