Valentine R. Crane, Owner-Breeder, Dies HAWTHORNE, Cicero, 111., June 5.— Valentine R. Crane, who died in New York last Saturday, was buried near his home at St. Charles, 111., today. One of the most prominent horsemen in the country for many years, Crane dealt in all kinds of horses. He was a leader in exhibiting heavy harness horses and jumpers. He later turned to thoroughbreds and raced and bred horses. He stood the sire, Minotaur, at his Wild Rose Farm at St. Charles, and was still active in breeding thoroughbreds at the time of his death. Other good horses who raced under Cranes colors were Dowagiac and the outstanding mare, Crossco. He is survived by his wife, Dorthy M. Crane; his sister, Dorothy Crane Maxwell and a brother, Charles Richard Crane II.
