MISS TEXAS, away forwardly, raced EL CABRILLO into submission to take a clear lead on the final turn, then held BALLACOLAS safe. The latter, crowded back at the start, moved into closer contention in the backstretch, then closed fast on the outside and just failed to get up. EPIZAR improved her position gradually and closed well, but swerved badly in the stretch. JEMIMA, bothered right after the start, raced evenly thereafter, but was unable to improve her position. EL CABRILLO had good early speed, but weakened. DADS was never dangerous. D. JOKER swerved to the inside right after the start and bothered the horses on the inside of him. FRANCES, away well, was in close quarters on the first turn, improved her position on the outside thereafter and was up in the late stages. CLUB CAR, a stout contender from the beginning, moved into command on the turn and fought it out willingly with the winner. SIR LO, under pressure to maintain a forward position, finished well. SHREWD QUEST was unable to engage the leaders while racing forwardly. K0K0 G. had good early speed, but could not keep up. DARBY DISMAY opened up a clear lead immediately after the start, but weakened. WIN FIN was blocked when attempting to move between horses in the backstretch and could not reach contention. STUDIO PLAY was steadied closest to the pace of BRACKET, moved around the latter when roused entering the stretch and drew out under mild pressure. BRACKET had speed to open up a clear lead, was steadied in front while saving ground, but could not resist the winner. W. A. MOORE lacked early speed, but made up some ground on the outside in the late stages. LADY RHEANELLE raced evenly, but could not threaten. COHAT could not keep up. RUSH ACT lacked early speed, moved up readily when roused in the backstretch, swung around on the outside in the stretch and drew away to win with something in reserve. CALM SEAS, a forward factor from the beginning, took a brief lead in the backstretch and held on well. BLENETTE improved her position gradually from a slow beginning and finished stoutly. POWDERED MILK trailed early and made up some ground in the late stages. FINAL GLORY had good early speed and raced with the pace into the stretch, then quit suddenly. POMPS GAL was steadied back of the early pace, moved into closer contention on the far turn, wore down MRS. VALENTI in the drive and was going away under pressure. MRS. VALENTI was rated closest to the pace of BENTBROOK, took command leaving the backstretch and saved ground, but could not resist the winner. MAY FLY lacked early speed, but finished with a rush. SIDDONS, sluggish early, passed tired horses. PERIAIR had some early speed, but weakened. BENTBROOK was sent into a clear lead and saved ground, but flattened out. DOTS RISK raced closest to the winner throughout and held on well, but was not good enough. TOPNARD moved into closer contention from a slow beginning after a half mile, then continued evenly, but was unable to improve his position. COLEY BAY trailed early as usual and made up some ground in the late stages. CHERRY WINE was unable to engage the leaders. FORUM, in close quarters on the first turn, could not keep up. SICKLE SUN was not hurried early, moved to the front readily when roused, drew clear and was not fully extended at the end. LARKMEAD JANE lacked early speed, but moved up with a rush on the cutside through the stretch and finished fast. SWELL CHANCE improved his position steadily, made a strong bid through the stretch and held on well. SPOON BREAD trailed the field to the final turn, then made up some ground in a rush. HOT DAYS was unable to improve his position. SEAPAR could not keep up. DEEP RED fell back steadily. TRY FLIGHT quit badly after setting the early pace. Scratched— 20683 Devils Island, 113. BRILLIANT JR., much the best, took a short lead at once, was steadied in the lead, drew out when called upon and won easily AGRARIAN SON improved his position gradually from a slow beginning and finished well, but was no match for the winner. ALLDEPENDS was a forward factor all the way, but could not threaten. FIGHTING MAC was used up racing with the winner and tired. BULLY GUSHER was unable to improve his position. IMPENETRABLE was not danqerous TIDEOVER was eased when outrun. SUNRID WAS FOUND LAME ON THE POST PARADE AND WAS ORDERED WITHDRAWN. ALL WAGERS ON HIM WERE REFUNDED. Scratched— 22094 Sunrid, 113; 22094 Pilateer, 115. Bully Gusher claimed by Rakickas and Gillespie. Attendance, 17,485; Total Mutuel Pool, 16,899. Returned to Public, 97,703, Less Breakage.
