Sun Fails to Cooperate For Kentucky Derby Day CHURCHILL DOWNS, Louisville, Ky., May 3. — The weather man guessed wrong on Derby weather here today, but although the skies were overcast instead of fair, and it continued cool instead of the expected warmer, no rain fell and the track was slowly drying out. Had the sun come out today, the worst the track would have been was "good." Morning winds, however, did act as a drying-out agency and the course tended toward good on the outside, but with some water remaining next the rail. Failure of the sun to shine did not dampen the enthusiasm of the crowd one bit. The rains stopped early today and sharp winds of the morning had well died down by mid-afternoon, making for a comfortable day of it, regardless of the overcast.
