Won driving; second and third the same. SHIRLEYS PRIDE outran the field from the barrier, increased the margin before going a half ./nile, then was under stout pressure to hold DEVILS LUCK safe. The latter improved position steadily on the outside, lost ground entering the stretch and just missed. WE HOPE raced forwardly and saved ground and held on gamely under a drive. JOLLY GREMLIN lacked a closing rally. SUN DISTANCE had no mishap. SUPREME MOMENT broke alertly, was unable to stay with the pace, then challenged briefly, but tired. JACKS NIECE quit. FIESTA broke alertly, was placed under steadying restraint close to the leader, moved into command when ready and had enough left to hold GILDSIE safe. The latter, outrun for a half mile, closed with a belated rush along the inside. FICKLE-MAN, never far off the leaders, made a game bid, but was not good enough. RUDYS STAR set the pace, was unable to shake off the opposition and tired through the stretch. BOLO PAT showed nothing. LANDN SEA was outrun. CLAIRE DAUBER was unable to reach the leaders early. TOP FOOT, kept within striking distance of the pace, moved along the inside entering the stretch, but was not good enough. CAROLINA STAR improved position gradually to finish with good energy. DE LUXE was allowed to work, his way up on the outside gradually, came around the leaders when roused, caught the leaders before being straightened for the drive and increased the lead without pressure. INFIRST went along with the pace under steadying restraint, responded to pressure and closed willingly. OUTLAND raced FALSE FRONT into submission, was unable to shake off the opposition and weakened. SHOE SHINE was taken back off the pace and steadied along the inside, then failed to make up appreciable ground when placed to a drive. FALSE FRONT tired and raced wide in the late stages. The latter disposed of ONE ONLY when set down, drew clear on the turn, then held on stubbornly to the end and was coming again after losing the lead. AETHELRED, never far off the pace, moved readily on the outside, then hung. SPANAQUA, outrun for seven furlongs, finished fastest of all on the extreme outside. ONE ONLY tired.
