LOVELY HARDIE, off well, contested the issue with MUCKALEA most of the way and drew away from the latter under mild urging near the end. MUCKALEA displayed good speed on the outside and raced well to the finish. ETERNAL HERB was close enough in the first part, but lacked the finishing power to menace the first pair. Won driving; second and third the same. HAPPY HOODLUM was outrun for half the trip, then came strongly on the outside, finished stoutly and, taking command, drew out in the last twenty yards. FOURTEEN GRAND was well placed early, handled his poundage courageously, but ..was unable to resist the winner. ALGIE had the advantage of the inner post position, saved ground while making the pace and was close up at the finish. HORNPIPE was in rather tight quarters in the stretch in a good effort MOSSY FACE and PARLIAMENT were forced to race wide. EXTINGUISHER finished gamely on the outside. SNOW KING II. was rated close up and showed speed on the flat after clearing the last jump, toolecommand and drew out to win easily. EXTRA went to the front early, drew away from LIEUT. WELL when given a free rein, then was taken in hand near the end. LIEUT. WELL was a forward factor in a good effort FIREBET went steadily under urging. PROCEED broke slowly, but raced fairly well. BILL ROSE and RIVER JEST were eased when badly beaten. MACANUDO lacked speed and fell at the finish hurdle. KUMMING and TINTAGELATION also went down at the fifth fense. WIN OR LOSE was off quickly from the outside post position and took a good lead soon after the start to increase his advantage rearing the last eighth, but was forced to do his best near the end. BANJOIST failed to press the early leaders, but finished fastest of all. AWARE raced up strongly on the inside after entering the last furlong, but bore into the fence near the finish. LE VAR raced wide most of the way, but displayed good stretch strength to finish full of run and catch BALAN in the closing strides. BALAN was eased back when caught in close quarters around the far turn, then came strongly in the stretch to get through a narrow opening in the final furlong and take a short lead but, was unable to last, although racing well under the whip to the end. COUNT VICTOR showed good courage in remaining in front to the. last eighth, despite being hard pressed. CHAT NOIR II. challenged on the stretch turn, although racing very wide, and was prominent to the last fifty yards. FIGHTING FLEET and DUPLICATOR had early speed. Overweight— Fighting Fleet, 1 pound. WENT TO POST— 3:53. OFF AT 3:54 EASTERN DAYLIGHT TIME. Start good from stall gate. Won driving; second and third the same. ROMAN CANDLE lacked much early speed, was badly outrun to the- last qaurter, then came strongly and steadily on the outside to get up and won in the last few strides. MISS DEGREE dropped back nearing the stretch turn when she went rather wide, but came again to head the field nearing the finish and just missed. SUB raced some distance back of the field to the stretch, then closed with a belated rush .and might have been the winner had she made her move sooner TOO SUNNY was always well up and finished in a fairly courageous manner. TALL WEEDS appeared a certain winner when she opened up several lengths nearing the stretch turn, but then weakened in the final test ALA-BLUE was under restraint in the first half and failed to respond when called upon, quitting badly when put to the whip in the stretch. ROYAL CASTLE was rated close up for the first six furlongs and, although, racing very wide on the stretch turn, easily took command when straightened out for home and won as his rider pleased. PICADOR showed good form in pacemaking and raced the early contenders into submission, but, although saving ground in the stretch, was not good enough for the winner THIRTY 1.0VE gained ground gradually from a rather slow beginning and-was going well at the end PROMPTNESS was used up trying to head PICADOR and had little left KOULI KHAN made up some ground.
