Bar Seventeen Racers, Suspend Registrations Jockey Club Stewards Investigate Bill Stremmel-Breds in California BELMONT PARK, Elmont, L. I., N. Y., May 12. — Marshall Cassidy,- executive secretary of The Jockey Club, announced here today that 17 thoroughbreds have been barred from racing and their registration certificates have been suspended, pending completion of an investigation now under way. All the horses are two or three-year-olds and were bred in California by Bill Stremmel. The action was taken because "A number of the applications for registration were false." Following is the announcement: "The stewards of The Jockey Club at their meeting on May 11 suspended the registration of .certain foals of 1947 and 1948, bred by Bill Stremmel of Glen Cove Stud Farm, Vallejo, Calif., and directed that the owners be informed that, pending the completed investigation, the privileges conferred by registration have been suspended, the horses • cannot be raced on tracks under the jurisdiction of The Jockey Club and the registration certificates should not be transfered to any purchasers of the horses without informing them of the suspension. "It was also directed that future registration applications by Stremmel will be denied and he has been notified to appear before the stewards. "This action, which is of particular importance to American breeders in safeguarding the Stud Book, was taken because of evidence that a number of Mr. Strem-mels registration applications of 1947 and 1948 foals were false." Johns Pet, b. f, 2, by-Pharloch — Klister. Boots K., ch. f, 2, by Viscounty — Natica. Johnny Peck, b. c, 2, by Andy K: — May-lite. Gentle Miss, b. f, 2, by Andy K.— Curtain Call n. Jewel Design, ch. f, 2, by With Regards — Madhattan. Woodcock, br. c, 2, by Viscounty — Gino Goes. King Rail, dead. - Stremmel is the registered breeder of all the horses except two, King Ortello and Ambling Andy. He bred them in partnership with Royal Eastman and Phillip Musso. respectively.
