LADY HEROD, outrun early, closed resolutely in a good effort. MISS LYRIC made up ground impressively when clear. STRAIGHT loomed a serious threat when able to move through along the inside entering the stretch, then weakened. SHINING BLADE raced prominently to the stretch and faltered. POES POEM quit after duelling for the lead. TRICIA FISKE could not keep up. SEOUL was taken up sharply in the vicinity of the three-eighths pole. MOOREA broke badly and had a rough trip. SILVER FLUSH, on the outside while holding a slim advantage over WATEREE, put away that one entering the stretch and drew clear to win with speed to spare. WATEREE dueled for the lead to the stretch, faltered badly, but outfinished ELLEN DEAS. The latter faltered through the stretch. SCORELESS rallied mildly on the turn and dropped back thereafter. BATTLE FURY rallied too late to seriously threaten the top ones. YAMA broke alertly and raced forwardly placed, but tired in the late stages. SEA BED closed willingly after breaking slowly. BIT 0 FATE, unhurried during the early stages, moved well on the final turn to gain prominence, then kept an irregular course through the stretch while outfinishing ARTHUR PILATE. The latter raced forwardly from the beginning, responded to stretch pressure, but was not good enough. ADOPT assumed command from the inside with a good move entering the stretch, then gave way. TUS ONE was sent to the front soon after the start, was nicely handled while being rated irt front and, after turning back repeated challenges by LORAN, withstood the late drive of FIFTY-FIVE. The latter rallied only mildly through the final furlong. LORAN, eased back early, remained along the inside to offer several challenges, then weakened in the late stretch. FREE PRESS raced evenly.
