Detroit Beats Red Sox, 6-4 For Fifth Straight Victory DETROIT, Mich., June 6 UP.— The Detroit Tigers staved off a ninth inning Red Sox rally today to win their fifth straight game, 6 to 4, and hand the tumbling Red Sox their fifth defeat in a row. Detroit southpaw Bob Cain and Red Sox righthander Harry Taylor were locked up in a pitching battle until the eighth inning when the Tigers erupted for seven hits and five runs to break a 1 to 1 tie.
