Jockey Basile Hospitalized With Fractured Spine * DELAWARE PARK, Stanton, Del., June 6. — Jockey Mike Basile, who was removed to the Delaware Hospital today when he experienced considerable difficulty in breathing, was found to be suffering from a fractured spine. According to Dr. C. Leith Munson, Basile will be on a special frame for two or three weeks, following which he will be placed in a cast or brace for a period of from six to eight weeks. According to Dr. Munson, Basile will be inactive for considerable time, possibly the remainder of the year. % Basile was galloping a horse several mornings back when his mount lunged, injuring Basile internally: Whether this was the direct cause of the existing injury cannot be determined, for Basile had been plagued by injuries earlier in the spring season. Later reports revealed Basile suffered a fractured spine.
