REVENGER sprinted into a commanding lead before reaching the first turn, set an even pace and lasted while tiring to best SECNAV. The * latter was rated in closest attendance to the pace, came slightly wide on the stretch turn, then closed fast at the end. STAND* OFF remained well out in the track throughout, loomed boldly entering the stretch, but lacked a rally. ETHEREAL raced prominently placed and weakened. MY LORRAINE circled wide while coming from far back. MASTER SHOWMAN had no excuse. BUDDIE SWEEP was poorly ridden: BETTER BUY began slowly. UP HIGH dropped back while racing extremely wide on the turn, closed fast after straightening into the stretch and wore down BIG KEIS at the end. BIG KEIS was hustled along to dispose of WINTER LAND and open a clear lead, came slightly wide into the stretch, then held on determinedly under punishment. KING COMMANDER saved ground and closed fast in the last stages. SEFS BET, momentarily taken in hand at the far turn, loomed boldly while moving up behind horses on the final turn, but weakened after being put to punishment. HOLLOWBROOK raced well for a half mile but failed to respond. AUNT JANE was forced back sharply inside KING COMMANDER at the far turn. WINTER LAND quit early. Scratched— 56748 Countess Lea, 114. LAFFANGO was under intermittent pressure while racing in closest pursuit of STALWART SON, then put that one away from the outside under strong punishment and won going away. STALWART SON outbroke the field and held sway evenly to the stretch, was then hard punished and was tiring fast at the end. COLIN DID began well, but could, not stay with the top pair, then finished evenly to hold his placing. CINDER BOY began the slowest. BY JUPITER was not able to match speed with CONTY BAY early, tired, but remained clearly best" of the others. SEA ADMIRAL raced closest to the top pair under pressure and was not a serious threat. BANK COAL was unable to reach contention after being forced wide on the first turn. LEAS BEST began poorly. DECAPOLIS showed nothing. STOP AND THINK did not extend himself. METAL MIKE quit. AGRIPPA dropped far back immediately after the start, was fortunate in finding clear racing next to the rail on the turn and rapidly raced into contention on the final turn, then closed strongly and bested JOE E. LEWIS. The latter was sent forward to take command from ROSEADA on the final turn, opened a clear lead under steady urging, but could not resist the winner. ROSEADA was alertly handled while showing the most early speed and faltered when headed. BIG BARGAIN could not keep up. NOBLE SPARTAN raced well for a half mile while on the outside, then did not respond for the drive. GARDEN WALL faltered. DRUIDS LYRICS was pinched back on the stretch turn. JESS LINTHICUM outbroke his opposition and immediately established a commanding lead, maintained a long lead without need of urging and was being eased up through the last sixteenth. RADO KID raced along evenly under pressure while in closest pursuit of the winner and was clearly best of the others. DINEWISELY was unhurried while out of contention early, saved ground making up distance on the final turn, came to the outside to take command with authority and held TOPSIDE safe. The latter, taken back strongly after the start, trailed the field for a half mile, then came around horses in the stretch with a belated rush. POINT FORTUNE was a keen factor and weakened. HARANGUE was in close guarters at the head of the stretch and then lacked a rally. RAZZOO set the early pace easily, but gave way willingly when challenged. FAGA-LA swerved at the start, could not reach the front under pressure and guit. BESSIES BEAU was under restraint and faltered when put to pressure.
