Open Long Harness Meet At Roosevelt Raceway Inaugurate 108-Night Session With Grand Circuit Racing WESTBURY, N. Y., May 24. Roosevelt Raceway starts oil a 108-night racing season Monday as the trotters switch their activities from Yonkers to the Westbury oval. . Twenty-nine important stake races will be contested with a total purse value of 00,000, although -over the year total purses will amount to well over ,000,000. The 1952 season, Roosevelts thirteenth since its opening in 1940, will conclude on September 27. The Grand Circuit opens simultaneously with the Westbury debut and will remain for four weeks before returning in July for another three-week session. On the opening night card is the Inaugural Pace, a ,000 early closing event. The field includes top-notch pacers. Among them are Prince Adios, Thomas B. Scot, The Black Prince, Floating Dream, Ford Motors First, Direct Rhythm and Sampson Hanover. Direct Rhythm is the first pacer to post a 2:00 milejn 1952, the four-year-old scoring on a mile track that distinction with a 1:59 performance at Santa Anita recently. Sampson Hanover is the only pacer in history ever to break 2:00 on a half-mile track. The Volomite pacer established this world record at the Delaware, Ohio, oval last year. Both these four-year-olds are expected to be favored over the rest of the field. This year, purses have been raised to a ,000 minimum from ,500. I
