BOLTON, never far back and well handled, was sent to the inside of CHIC WAVE for the stretch run, disposed of the latter and drew clear when ridden out. CHIC WAVE went to the front early, established a good lead before reaching the stretch, but faltered when challenged by BOLTON. DEPAL was unable to better his position when set down for the drive. PINSK failed to rally when hard ridden through the stretch. CLEARBROOK tired after showing early speed. CHEVRON ACE began fast, but failed to stay. COLE SLAW, away pdorly, lost all chance. SILVER DOME disliked the muddy track. SESSIE GIRL was through early. KEEN STEP showed nothing. AGUACATE was far back for the entire trip. Start good from stall gate. Won driving; second and third the same. CROSS END went to the front early, swerved to the inside during the stretch run and, after impeding LADY LOCKS, held the latter safe. LADY LOCKS, never far back, was forced to take up during tne drive and go to the outside of CROSS END, finished gamely when clear, but could not overtake the winner. A claim of foul against CROSS END by LADY LOCKS rider was not allowed by the stewards. FLYING TURKEY lacked early speed, but finished fast in a sharp effort. WINGY was unable to better his position when set down through the stretch. ALLOCATION made a good bid in the early stretch; but faltered when near the finish. GALLAJACI was outrun. SUN IDOL BOY began fast, engaged CROSS END to the stretch, then weakened. ALGIE disliked the muddy track. TEMPTER was never prominent. DERWOOD was through early. TOP VALLEY could not handle the muddy footing. MESCARA broke well, but dropped far back immediately atfer the start. WHISKEY JOHN, alertly handled, assumed "command immediately, made the pace to the stretch under steady rating, then gamely withstood a brisk drive to hold LILAC safe. The latter, a sharp factor from the beginning, raced nearest WHISKEY JOHN throughout, closed determinedly under punishment, but could not overtake the lop one, although much the best of the others. QUEEN APACHE drifted out at the stretch turn and could not better her position when set down in the drive. UPRIGHT began poorly and lost all chance. BLUE SICKLE disliked the muddy track. CABOOSE, well ridden, steadily improved position to the stretch, responded to punishment during the drive and wore down BATTLE KING in the last sixteenth. BATTLE KING was hustled to the front early, established a clear lead entering the stretch,-but faltered when near the finish and could not withstand the winner, although easily best of the others. ARBUCKLE, away fast, dropped back after the start and could not threaten the leaders when set down for the drive. FRED B. lacked early speed and was never dangerous. SAVOIA disliked the muddy track. DIAMOND NED was outrun. BUTCHS PRIDE failed to stay after displaying early speed. OCEAN SKY began slowly. TERRIBLE TERRY could not handle the muddy footing and raced wide for the entire trip. MARCH PROUDLY lacked early speed, but finished with a rush. NERVE faltered after showing early speed. SPUNKY, away alertly, was crowded back when caught between horses going to the upper turn and failed to recover. TEN GALLON HAT was outrun. BLACK BANTAM steadily worked way forward while racing well out in the track, responded well when set down for ;the drive and, after disposing of DOUBLE BLUSH, held BUSY FOX safe. The latter, saved, ground throughout, remained next to the inner rail for the drive and finished willingly but could not get to the winner. ROUND N ROUND raced wide and failed to rally during the stretch run. RIGMAROLE lacked early speed but finished well Tinder brisk urging. DOUBLE BLUSH began fast, made the pace until inside the stretch, but gave way when challenged by BLACK BANTAM. RACKER-BILL was never prominent. WISENHEIMER, away alertly and a sharp factor from the beginning, gave a good effort and had no mishap. OUR REQUEST saved ground from the start, but failed to rally when set down in the drive. DOOLY was never dangerous after bothering GAY HUNTER after the start. BATTLE HERO was through early. GAY HUNTER, roughed by DOOLY after the break, failed to recover. QUICK TULIP raced evenly to the stretch, saved ground during the drive but. could not seriously threaten the- top one. GREEN SABER, away sluggishly, was hustled to the front before going a furlong, made the pace until inside the stretch but weakened when challenged by BROWN RAMBLER.
