DINNER WINNER shook off MISS FLUSHING rounding the turn, established a commanding lead for the stretch run, but was ridden out to hold his advantage. BURNHAM WOOD was an alert factor throughout and finished well. CINDER BOY began slowly, but closed with good courage in the last stages. SATISFIED broke behind the field, then had no chance, but gave a good effort. JACONORA could not keep up. MISS FLUSHING faltered early. Scratched-56629 Mere Bull, 117. JIMMINY GOSH was under intermittent rousing while saving ground, wore down SUPPRESSOR in the stretch run and won going away under urging. SUPPRESSOR dashed into a long lead, held sway into the last furlong and suddenly faltered, MOMS CHOICE raced between horses and could not get up. DASH FOR CASH began alertly, but could not keep up. B. DOUBLE B. was urged in closest pursuit of the pace and quit. SUNNY BONES could not keep up. FROST AGAIN began slowly. HAPPY RABBIT was in close quarters and was taken back at the far turn. BUZFUZ was under steady pressure while unable to contend early, drifted wide while steadily making up ground in the drive and bested PHOENICIA in the last yards. PHOENICIA was nicely steadied while in closest attendance to the pace, swung wide into the stretch, but easily disposed of PRINCE RANSOM, then just failed to last. PRINCE RANSOM was hustled along setting ,the pace and weakened atfer a half mile. MARSE GEORGE dropped back after the start, saved ground and bested tiring horses. ROMANTYPE was outrun. PORTCULLIS was a sharp factor slipped through an opening next to the rail on the stretch turn to reach the front and outfinished PODOLOFF The latter raced just behind the first flight, responded resolutely coming between horses for the stretch drive and was gradually gaining. ABBOTTSTOWN lacked early speed, but closed with good courage in the final run PENSON lost ground racing on the outside and should improve. CURTAIN TIME could not shake off early contention and weakened. MIRTHMAKER saved ground to no avail. GAMBLER was hard pressed showing speed and quit. SEDGEVIEW was sent to the front of FATHER LINK from the outside midway on the turn and appeared ready to draw clear, but was again challenged entering the stretch and was lightly steadied until coming to the last sixteenth, then closed gamely under energetic handling and proved best FATHER LINK began fastest, readily gave way to SEDGEVIEW on the turn, but saving ground responded to draw out to a clear lead entering the stretch, then weakened at the end. PENSAVA raced on the outside throughout and could not get up, although giving a good effort. MR. BUSTER was rated closest to the top pair and did not respond. VAMANOS was outrun. SELECTOR could not keep up. SHY BIM began sluggishly, ran up behind horses at the far turn and, after being taken in hand, stumbled and unseated her rider. SIXTH RACE 6 FURLONGS out of chute. Won ridden out; second and third driving WOODCHUCK raced along freely while keenly challenging for the pace, disposed of the contention and opened a commanding lead after three furlongs, then remained under steady hand pressure to maintain his advantage. ALGASIR began slowly and was rated behind the closely bunched field, saved- ground while rallying in the drive but, after securing his position, was not pressed after the winner. RADO KID, under strong restraint while between horses rounding the far turn, made a brief bid at the four and one-half furlongs marker and weakened. WAR PHAR was briskly urged to gain an early advantage and faltered. WHIFFENPOOF could not reach the front early and quit. BUZZING BEE was in close quarters and dropped back on the far turn. Grier, trained by R. De Stefano; bred by Calumet Farm. WENT TO POST 5:43. OFF AT 5:43 EASTERN DAYLIGHT TIME. Start good from stall gate. Won driving; second and third the same. ALERTED, hustled away from the gate, was under gentle pressure while racing well placed and within easy striking distance, responded to move in company with CALL OVER on the turn and challenged between him and CRAFTY ADMIRAL, then gradually gained his winning margin while attempting to drift in through the stretch run. CRAFTY ADMIRAL quickly established a clear lead, repulsed early bids from SONIC, then saved all possible ground and fought it out gamely to the end. JOEY BOY was rated while never far back, closed willingly-in the drive and lasted over MAMELUKE. The latter could n.ot untrack himself and trailed for more than six furlongs, had to swing to the middle of the track for clear racing at the head of the stretch and closed with a belated rush. CALL OVER made a strong bid from the outside on the final turn, but had nothing left after reaching the straightaway. THREE RINGS was not a factor. AIR ATTACK .made one good run and quit. NEVER BETTER raced along evenly in closest pursuit of the pace, then held on gamely in the drive and bested OAK RIVER. The latter, never was far back, swung to the inside for the drive and appeared dangerous, but hung. STAND OFF dropped back racing on the outside and rallied but mildly in the drive. BETTER BUY held a clear lead into the stretch but stopped when challenged. SIR STEPHAN had no excuse. FREE PASSES was butrun and came wide for the drive. .
