Broken Leg Fails to Stop Howards Aussie Sire Ajax HOLLYWOOD PARK, Inglewood, Calif., May 24. Lin Howard .reports that the Australian sire Ajax, now 19 years old, broke a leg six weeks ago but not only has been saved but has continued to serve at stud. X-rays also show that the. break, an actual one, and not a fracture, is healing. Doctor Humphries of Oxnard who treated the stallion had to take pictures of the horse and his game leg to convince other vets who wouldnt believe it. The cast, which weighs about 30 pounds, is changed once a week. The elderly fellow is expected to discard the cast in another six weeks. He served about 20 mares this season.
