HOOP JUDE broke alertly, forced the pace to the final turn, assumed command when put to pressure and withstood a sustained stretch drive. FINAL PROOF, slow to settle into stride, moved around the outside, losing ground and was catching the winner. GREAT NECK, a forward factor under light restraint to the final turn, rallied when set down, but was not good enough. FLYING HOOP, unable to reach the lead early, remained close up to the final quarter, then lacked a convincing rally." NOTTS FOREST broke quickly from his inside position, took command and set the pace to the stretch, then weakened. JUNIOR COUNSEL showed a good effort. CAPSTONE had no mishap. ANNIES CHOICE forced the early pace, drew clear after a quarter mile, gave way when challenged, but continued on gamely. LITTLE AUD closed willingly. BILL HOWK, a forward factor on the outside, had no mishap. JUDY R. showed speed for a half mile before weakening. NASSAU closed ground along the inside. The others were never prominent. BEST DEGREE opened a clear lead soon after the start, was well rated while setting the pace and had something left to outfinish TOP FOOT. The latter broke alertly, was steadied close to the leader, moved willingly when roused, but was unable to gain command. GRAND EVENING was best of the others. GRAY CHIEF went evenly. MY FREEDOM, sluggish in the early stages, was unable to make top appreciable ground when roused. MY REDEMPTION showed nothing. UNCLE HAL and PEBBLES HOUR were outrun. SCHEMING WORLD BROKE FROM THE POST PARADE, THE SADDLE SLIPPED AND HE GALLOPED ONCE AROUND, AFTER WHICH HE WAS SCRATCHED AND ALL MONEY WAGERED WAS REFUNDED. Scratched— 58663 Scheming World, 112. LUSTRINO showed speed from the beginning, but weakened in the final furlong. DADS DEGREE had no mishap. GIFTED BOOTS was unable to keep up. HERMAN L. was. never prominent. The latter forced the pace under light restraint, assumed command in the stretch, but was not good enough. TWINTONE assumed the early lead, saved ground, but weakened in the final furlong. DAY-DREAMER closed steadily through the stretch. MARPHIL faltered. COAT-OF-BLUE made up ground from off the pace. NOME had no mishap. KINGS TIP went evenly. BRIDAL TOAST flashed brief speed.
