ARTIST JFE had to be cautiously handled while on the rail along the backstretch, came through on the inside when gaining best stride in the drive and wore down HENRY D. M. in the late stages. The latter broke sluggishly, then was rushed along between horses to reach a forward position, took command and drew clear in the stretch, then shortened stride while going along on his own courage in the final stages. THE DERVISH was slow to begin, raced slightly wide moving up and closed well. OUR JESTER lacked speed and was forced to race wide. BLUE W. was outrun. BIG TIME tired. MAGIC MOMENT gave way in the drive. MOSSY FACE came out of the race lame. MISS BARON had speed and quit. IMPASSE lacked speed, came wide for the stretch run and went by tired horses. TRINACRIA saved ground and had no excuse. MILSPAL was slow to begin. FIDDLERS GIRL pressed the pace and tired. GALLOPING GUS forced his way up on the inside, came out when clear for the dri-e and drew away after disposing of ROPE TRICK. BROWN DALTON was shuffled back between horses on the turn, came again when clear and closed with good courage. ROPE TRICK went up on the outside to obtain command and weakened in the drive. DETECTIVE had good speed for a half mile and weakened. WHAT tired, as did BESITA. BEST PUNCH quit. OUT POINT was never far back, found room on the rail to move up and be closest to the pace, came out dispose of TO MARKET midway of the final furlong and was gradually drawing clear. The latter was forced to race slightly wide rounding the first turn, established a clear lead and came to the rail when straightened on the backstretch, held on willingly until the end, but could not resist the top one. COUNTY DELIGHT was forwardly placed between horses much of the way, swerved out sharply just after leaving the final turn and lacked a menacing rally. GREEK SHIP saved ground and had no excuse. ALERTED, between horses much of the way, failed to respond when hard put. MAMELUKE was outrun. AUDITING raced slightly wide and was bothered when COUNTY DELIGHT veered out. HARPES was briskly handled on the first turn to reach command, drew out on the final turn while lightly restrained, began to go wide at the quarter-mile post and was near the outside rail going by the furlong post, then maintained a clear advantage until the end. KAYS CHILDREN was within striking distance from the start, made up ground in the stretch, but could not get to the top one. BIG ROAD saved ground and lacked a closing rally. THE SPANIEL tired. ROBERTO moved up suddenly on the outside to challenge on the final turn and tired. GARIBALDI bore out when tiring. LIFTER was through after six furlongs ROUND TOP trailed.
