Raise 55899 at Lansdowne Tor British Empire Games GamesVANCOUVER VANCOUVER B C June 5 Lans ¬ downe Park was the scene of a special days racing last Tuesday known as Corona ¬ tion Day at the Races with the entire proceeds being turned over to the Special Events Committee of the British Empire Games These games to be held in Van ¬ couver the first week in August 1954 are open to athletes from all over the British Empire and are considered as a forerunner to the Olympic Games GamesThe The day was a tremendous success over 13000 being attendance and putting over 200000 through the mutuel machines machinesThe The Dominion and Provincial Govern ¬ ments waived any share they might have in the take The B C Turf and Country Club The Western Concessions Co and all others concerned turned over all profits for the day bringing the total amount donated to the games fund to 5589922
