Joe Thomas Joins Staff Of Daily Racing Form FormProminent Prominent RacingBreeding Scribe Associated With Kentucky Bureau BureauLEXINGTON LEXINGTON Ky May 1 Joe Thomas widely known writer on thoroughbred rac ¬ ing and breeding has joined the staff of DAILY RACING FORM and The Morning Telegraph and is now associated with the Kentucky bureau maintained by these newspapers Thomas has been turf corre ¬ spondent for the Lexington Herald and has had considerable experience in the breeding industry industryThomas Thomas was born in Pocatello Idaho on September 8 1924 In 1933 his family moved to California where he studied in ¬ dustrial engineering at the University of Southern California until the outbreak of World War II when he entered the Navy He served two years in the South Pacific as an ensign and upon his release from the Navy purchased with his father and brother a small ranch near Riverside Calif CalifFor For a while he was employed at various race tracks and farms in California then moved to Kentucky when offered a posi ¬ tion in Keenelands publicity department He left that post to become the Lexington Heralds turf columnist succeeding the late Phil McCann
