Jockey Spills at Ascot Not Due to Poor1 Track TrackOfficrals Officrals Welcome Investigation Orders by Gov Frank J Lausche LauscheCOLUMBUS COLUMBUS Ohio May 1 Officials of Ascot Park denied yesterday that four jockeys had been injured in spills there as a direct result of the racing strip being hi poor condition Gov Prank J Lausche earlier had ordered an investigation to see whether abnormal conditions had been responsible for the accidents accidentsBefore Before leaving to see the Kentucky Derby Zoltan Combos chairman of the Ohio State Racing Commission assigned Ed Corrigan secretary of the commission to Ascot Park for the purpose of inter ¬ viewing trainers and jockeys in regard to the condition of the track trackIn In reply to the charges Henry Green director of racing at Ascot declared two jockeys had suffered minor injuries in stable mishaps and another rider had been unseated from his mount during a race A fourth reinsman was injured in a spill to the degree that he was hospitalized Green said saidLausche Lausche recently quoted Combos as hav ¬ ing told him that the Ascot management has spent a considerable sum to increase the seating capacity at the track and also to enlarge the concessions but that nothing had been done to maintain the race strip stripGreen Green denied this flatly He said It is true that Ascot Park has spent a consid ¬ erable amount of money with the comfort of its patrons in mind but the horsemen know that they receive first consideration at this track Ascot Park welcomes any investigation that Lausche or Combos or any other state official cares to con ¬ duct
