The latter raced forwardly placed from the start, wrested command on the backstretch and held on tenaciously. PLENTIFUL weakened in the drive. LA SABRA closed willingly. AEGIR raced evenly for the most part. MISS SWING was in close quarters while on the first turn. VINITA TONEY tired. BELLE WATLING and INDIAN GUIDE failed to menace. STROLLING BALL was pinched back while racing in the first flight along the backstretch and never recovered. DREAM SPINNER was eased. Overweight Just Mamie, 2 pounds. SCRUTINY was slow to gain best stride, joined the pace on the turns and then lacked a further rally. ZAYNA weakened after forcing the pace. MRS. LOVE raced evenly. GENE EPP had brief speed while between horses. LEADING BRAND was never a serious contender. LUESS showed nothing. BELOVED MISS raced forwardly placed from the start, but lacked the necessary qualifications. LOCHWIN tired when the real racing began. RONNIE LEE closed willingly while between horses to finish on equal terms with NICODEM. The latter had speed in spots and finished in a dead-heat for fourth position. BLESSED LITTLE raced evenly for the most part. MR. SONGBIRD was responsible for the early pace and then quit. MIGHTY QUEST was never a factor. MOOSE EYE quit badly. THE VEEP was well in hand while forcing the pace along the backstretch, moved around DUKE AUMAR in the early stretch and then held sway under pressure. LAISSEZ FAIRE, allowed to settle into best stride, and then responding gamely to-pressure through the stretch, was getting to the winner. DUKE AUMAR gained the lead soon after the start, saved ground on the turns and weakened only slightly. LORD NORTH bore out a trifle entering the stretch. COUNTRY GOSSIP was never a factor. The latter drew clear at the head of the stretch, but was not good enough near the end. BURNT CHILD rallied from well back in the final quarter. GET LOST finished willingly. WAL-DOT-0 had speed, in spots. HARRYS REWARD lacked a rally. NATCHEZ GIRL was short. SET THE TABLE was never a factor. TYNER made a menacing move along the inside and then faltered.
