ROYAL GANG, forwardly placed from the start, went to the front before a half mile and held sway thereafter under intermittent urging. TONGA PRINCE moved up menacingly leaving the final turn, but was unable to seriously endanger the leader when subjected to brisk pressure. BALARK, never far back, raced through, the final furlong without mishap. CROSSED SWORDS, far back early, closed with a belated burst of speed. JERL0U raced wide throughout. OSAGIAN tired. MARKET GAIN, rank during the post parade, was never dangerous during the running. NORTHQUEST quit. RICODEE was always outrun. SEA VIEW retired steadily from a rapid start. LOOK ALIVE steadily improved his position to attain a contending position nearing the furlong marker, responded to brisk urging to take command during the concluding strides and won going away. BLUE EYES alternated in setting and pressing the early pace, regained command entering the stretch, but shortened stride when punished and was unable to withstand the winner. SIR MIRON, slow to reach best stride, rallied too belatedly to seriously endanger the top ones. FREE WILL, always on the outside, closed a gap. CRIER, much used early, had little left. EXTRA GIRL never threatened. HEARTACHE raced wide. EOCENE quit. KINDNESS never was dangerous. RAINY DAY dropped from contention immediately after the start. STANDING ROOM, INJURED AT THE GATE, WAS ORDERED DECLARED. ALL WAGERS ON STANDING ROOM WERE REFUNDED. FOUR TO GO assumed a slight lead immediately after the start, was taken back from the pace during the early running, regained the lead nearing the final hedge and steadily drew clear when fully extended. DEAR BRUTUS, slow to gain best stride, came to the inside of the leaders for the drive, but lacked the necessary rally. KHUMBABA, far back early, rallied too late to become an endangering factor. GLENCANNON failed to respond when set down for the drive. HURST PARK tired. ORIENTAL SUITE and PIRRO were outrun. BLACK BID quit. THE AMERICAN was through early. ROYAL VALE dropped far out of contention along the backstretch, circled the field while Unleashing a bold rush and was getting to the winner. PENOCC was unable to draw clear early and lacked the needed staying qualities against the company. ACEFULL could not keep pace. LATE MODEL was outrun. Overweight Late Model, 4 pounds.
