Davey Not Contemplating Comeback, But Will Listen DETROIT, Mich., April 30.— UP — Chuck Davey, who quit the boxing ring in favor of a sportscasting job 11 months ago, said today hes not contemplating a comeback, but might fight again if thei right offer comes along. "Lets put it this way," Davey said. "Im just a guy who is trying to make a living. Right now Im not working and naturally Id be willing to listen to any offer — boxing or otherwise." Davey, former national collegiate champion from Michigan State, sky-rocketed to ring fame with an impressive three-year unbeaten string and earned a welterweight title crack at Kid Gavilan two years ago. Gavilan defeated the flashy southpaw and Daveys ring fortune dwindled after that. He suffered four more setbacks and retired after the last defeat, which came at the. hands of Vince Martinez May 26, 1954, at Chicago. Davey, who will be 30 years old next week, was employed as a sportscaster by a Detroit television station after his retirement. He recently completed his contract ! with the station and has been looking foi 1 another job. .
