Promised Land First Official Entry for 7957 Preakness PIMLICO, Baltimore, Md.. May 16. — Mrs. Ethel D. Jacobs Promised Land became the first official member of the 1»57 Preakness field when trainer Ilirsch Jacobs dropped the colts entry with racing secretary J. Fred Colwill Wednesday afternoon — beating the deadline, which is 10 a.m. Friday, by , nearly 40 hours. Trainer Sunny Jim Fitzsimmons, always an "early bird," entered Wheat-ley Stables Bold Ruler in the Preakness this morning. The dean of Americas trainers did not reach Pimlico until late Wednesday afternoon. Pimlicos executive director Louis Pondfield stated today that he was deputized to make the entry for D and M Stables Inside Tract, scheduled to arrive here Friday evening.
