Won driving; second and third the same. DREAM LIFE raced close up and forced the pace to the stretch, then came on the outside and, chillcnging TREVIS, outgamed the latter in a close finish. TREVIS set a good pace to the stretch and raced well to the end. WAR BOY raced close up on the outside all the way and finished gamely. STUDENT PRINCE had a rough race and closed a big gap. SPRING also came from far back in the Btretch, finishing close up. CONEY ISLAND tired. THE CAPTAIN was shuffled back at the start. The latter raced close up and came fast on the outside in the last eighth. QUEEN CLARA quickly raced up to the leaders and, racing gamely in the final drive, outfinished CAPTAIN FOX. The latter raced well and finished gamely. CAPTAIN HANEY was outpaced for the first half mile, then closed a big gap, finishing fast. Won handily; second and third driving. BLUE TORCH raced into the lead at the start, withstood challenges from CLIQUE and MARENGO in the first mile and then, finishing gamely, held GRASS MAID safe. The latter came with a rush in the stretch, but bumped MARENGO when an eighth away and was unable to overtake the winner. MARENGO challenged repeatedly on the back stretch and raced CLIQUE into defeat, then began tiring in the final drive. VENNIE DAY ran a bad race and had no mishaps. The latter improved his position steadily from a slow beginning and finished fast on the outside. CLIFF also came with a rush on the inside at the end and outpamed SARKO. SARKO raced close up and forced a good pace, then tired near the end. FLAMES closed up much ground. MASTER SWEEP quit. LAMP WARD was off badly.
