BOBSLEIGH OUT OF DERBY Bahrains Most Formidable Rival Declared From Ejpsom Race. Aga Khans Star Odds-On Choice to Win Famous English Derby, to Be Run Next Wednesday. Special Cablegram LONDON, England, May 30. Final acceptances were filed here yesterday for the running of the English Derby at Epsom Downs next Wednesday. Seventeen horses remain eligible, and it is expected all of them will go to the post in Englands most famous classic June 5. The most notable absentee will be Lord Derbys Bobsleigh, a strong second choice in the wagering as late as a week ago. However, during a recent training gallop, he pulled up lame, and his stable decided it would be impossible to start him. Bobsleigh has run twice this year, finishing fourth in the Two Thousand Guineas at Newmarket early in May and winning the Newmar- ket Stakes at the same track a week later. The triple string of the bow held by the Aga Khan is one of the strongest in Epsom Derby history. Bahram, his undefeated favorite for the classic, is an odds-on choice in the ante-post betting at 5 to 6. Until the defection of Bobsleigh, he had been held at 9 to 4. The Aga Khans other two eligibles, Theft and Hairan, are quoted at 100 to 8 each. The strongest contention for the Indian potentates horse is expected to come from Lord Astors Field Trial and C. W. Gordons Sea Bequest. Among the other absentees will be the American-owned Santorin, from the Marshall Field stables, Saint Andrew II., which races for Joseph E. Widener, and William Woodwards Fresh Fox. The last named is an American-bred son of Gallant Fox. Bonnie Dundee and Fair Lead, King Georges eligibles for the race, also were declared.
