BRIGHT LIGHT THE FAVORITE May Be Public Choice in ,000 Prairie State Stakes at Washington Park Saturday. HOMEWOOD, 111., May 30 On Saturday at Washington Park the ?5,000 added Prairie State Stakes, at five and one-half furlongs, brings together a field of outstanding two-year-olds in one of the first important juvenile fixtures of summer racing. Bright Light, a bay colt that races for the Sharidon Farm of the Nash Brothers of Chicago, may rule favorite. Bright Light made a name for himself by a good race in the Aberdeen Stakes at Havre de Grace, finishing close behind such winter champions as Wise Duke and Deliberator. Those who like horses that have been proving their fitness by fast workouts will have Grand Slam, which races for the Bomar Stable of Detroit, as their candidate. Grand Slam arrived at Washington Park Thursday morning. Last Monday at Detroit he worked five furlongs in 1:00. "Mrs. E. B. Carpenters Empty Bottle, winner of five of her first eight starts and second to Billie Bane in the Juvenile Stakes at Arlington Downs, is a candidate, as is Antoine Pelleteris Kingsbury, holder of the track record of :52 for four and one-half furlongs at Arlington Downs. He beat a good field here Tuesday. Dr. C. C Hagyards Ottoman was an opening-day winner at Washington Park, beating several Prairie State eligibles. The Milky Way Farms Forever Yours came within two-f if ths . of a second of the track record for five furlongs in beating another field of Prairie State candidates last Saturday. Dixianas Erin Torch won his first Hqmewood start earlier in the week, only to be disqualified. The probable field follows: Grand Slam, Empty Bottle, Bright Light, Lemont, Rush Away, Erin Torch, Thatagal, Forever Yours, Ottoman, Valiant Fox, Sir Jim James, Bel-leek, Dunlin Lady, Holdum Brown, Kentucky Blues, and Kingsbury.
