White Skies Assigned 136 : For Saturdays Oceanport OCEANPORT, N. J., June 7. The champion sprinter of the nation, William M. Wickhams White Skies, has been assigned top weight of 136 pounds for the Ocean-port Handicap, six-furlong feature of Saturdays opening program at Monmouth Park. White Skies, unbeaten in four starts this year, has been picking up increased poundage as he sweeps through various sprint events. After winning an overnight event in Florida, the Sun Again horse won the Paumonok at Jamaica under 130 pounds, moved up to 132 for the Toboggan at Belmont, and then lugged 135 to victory in the Roseben Handicap. The extra pound marks the highest weight ever assigned to him. Racing secretary John Turner, Jr., as-Continued on Page Forty-Four I White Skies Assigned 136 For Saturdays Oceanport Continued from Page One signed second highweight of 127 "pounds to Mrs. Ada L. Rices Pet Bully, but this veteran speedster wont be on hand to fulfill his engagement Saturday. Pet Bully, after breezing five furlongs here Sunday in 1:03, was vanned over to New York this morning and was scheduled to be flown Monday night to Los Angeles to compete in the inaugural running of the 00,000 added Californian at Hollywood Park Saturday. Third on the list of nominations for the 5,000-added event is Wheatley Stables Hilarious, with 121, while Mrs. Sam PLstorios Brazen Brat, winner of the Capitol, Rowe and Level Best handicaps, follows with 117. Brazen Brat has an impressive record this year, winning four out of six starts, although she was badly beaten in the Colonial Handicap. The opposition to White Skies and Pet Bully doesnt stop there. Saxon Stables Invigorator, 115; Belair Studs Hyphasis, 114; Alfred Roberts Eatontown, 113, and R. C. Hannas Candle Wood, 112, are all dangerous under their weights. A score for White Skies would make him the highest weighted horse ever to win the Oceanport. That honor a.t present belongs to Polynesian, who won the race in 1947 under 134 pounds. White Skies worked six furlongs Sunday, stepping the distance in 1:14, handily. Tommy Root, who has turned in a masterful training job on the horse, plans to start the speedball in the Oceanport.
