All Comers Lowers Detroit Track Mark Clocked Five Furlongs in :5ZV5 As He Leads Pit Away By Four-Length Margin By DON FAIR Staff Correspondent DETROIT RACE COURSE, Livonia, Mich., June 4. — All Comers, a quick and well-conformed juvenile son of Free For All and Baby Lea, carried Henry Forrests green and white silks to a record-shattering victory here this delightful afternoon in the Sir Sprite Purse before a half-holiday crowd of 17,134 spectators. Taking command at the start of the five furlongs dash under the alert guidance of young Johnny Sellers, the Forrest colt clipped one-fifth of a second off the track record as he sped under the wire in :58%. Mrs. Norman J. Hernandez Pit Away ran second four lengths before Grace Kosibas good filly, Full Book, while James Paddocks Yeoni picked up fourth money in the field of six starters. Earns Stakes Berth All Comers, favorably weighted at 107 pounds with the apprentice allowance, made his local seasonal debut in such clever fashion that he undoubtedly earned a starting berth in the •forthcoming Lads and Lassies Stakes. Third choice in the totalisator in spite of three prior successes, the Forrest colt went to the post at 3% to 1. Pit Away made a bold bid when set down for the drive but, after getting within a half length of All Comers, bore in so badly that jockey Lois Cook was unable to persevere with him through the final furlong. All Comers then drew clear while Pit Away, in spite of his erratic course, was not under pressure to take place honors from Full Book. The latter filly was slightly more than a length on Yeohi for-the show while R. H. Miller, Jr.s Missy Ann and A. P. Walls Key Biscayne followed in that order. Jockey Willie Zakoor icame up with his third winner of the matinee, taking a nose decision with David Zakoors Activate in the six furlongs sixth. Marion H. Van-Bergs Black Billings was a hard-charging second, while P. L. Hallums Roll Bama ran third in the field of seven starters. Activate., clocked in: 1:11%, paid .00 mutuel. Zakoor Captures Double Jockey Willie Zakoor, who has been showing excellent saddle form during the current Michigan season, handled both winners in the Daily Double races. Zakoor hustled . P. J. Bradys Pritty Watch to a three and onerhalf lengths verdict in the one mile and 70 yards opener, then came back to score astride Rae — Janet Stables improved Crown Winner in the six furlongs second race. Pritty Watch, a vidtor earlier in the season, paid 19-to-5 to down nine ordinary middle distance platers, while Crown Winner returned straight pool backers 39-to-10 after defeating 10 three-year-old sprinters. The Daily Double pay-off on the pair was 08.60.
