SUMMER SOLSTICE was slow to begin, but moved up on the inside nearing the far turn to obtain a forward position, then came to the outside on CORPICK in the stretch and although bearing out slightly, took command in the last sixteenth and was not irf serious danger of being headed by RIVER GATE. The latter was outrun to the stretch, but finished strongly on the inside. ROMAN SENATOR saved ground on the stretch turn, but faltered near the end. PRINCE ERIC finished fairly well. MOONDOG was unable to keep up with the early pace, but moved up on the rail entering the stretch and, finding an opening on the inside in the last sixteenth, took command to win slowly drawing out. SEVENTH TRIBE was a strong contender from the start and held on well. COMPASS BOX improved her position, although losing ground. DEEP WONDER weakened in the last furlong. SKY MAID had early speed, but tired. BLACKAMOOR was never dangerous.
