Fra Fillpo was outrun in the early part of the race, but saved much ground when coming into the stretch and, finishing fast, wore down Sneer in the final strides. The latter showed fine speed In the going and, better handled, would have won. Investor was weakly ridden, but ran a fairly good race. Economist finished with a rush. Rio Grande broke well in motion and, always hard ridden, set a fast pace, saved ground on the stretch turn and came away in the last furlong like a good colt. De Oro was badly ridden, lost much ground when coming into the stretch and barely got up for second place. Arthur Rosenfield showed speed. and stayed well. Aladay acted fractiously at the post, showed a flash of early speed, but was pinched off in the first quarter and tired in the final drive. The latter was reserved in the early stages, ran a good race and had no mishaps. Jack Young faltered and swerved badly when brought to a hard drive in the stretch. Foxhall acted badly before the start, but was away fully in motion and, favored by an inside position, assumed a slight lead at once, stood a hard drive gamely and Harris superior riding won for him. Haughty, possibly best, was iioorly handled and had to go wide for the entire trip, appeared the winner In the last seventy yards, but Callus rode a weak finish.
