HILDRETH SATISFIED WITH UNCLE. Xew York, October 5. S. C. Hildreth, who gare John Madden 0,000 for Uncle during the Saratoga meeting and who had been frequently advised that he had paid too much, is more than pleased with the colt. Meeting Madden in the paddock after the race for the Triumph Stakes, lie said: "Well. I am convinced now that the colt is worth every cent I paid for him, regardless of what others may say. It was a great performance and, next to Colin. I think lie is the top of the list." While Uncle has earned nothing like the sum paid for him, he was handicapped hy a long spell of disability, which commenced soon after his purchase. Hildreth figured up yesterday that the colt had won more than 0,000. "If Colin had kept on coughing at Saratoga It would have been a great deal more," remarked Hildreth. He referred, of course, to the Saratoga Special, when Uncle gave the Keene champion the hardest race of his successful career.
