NOTES OF THE TURF. The Italian steeplechase rider Masnada will go to New York after the Hamilton meeting. He is really a good horseman. Jockey Zurborg had his right arm broken and his back badly injured when thrown and trampled upon by a twb-year-old he was exercising at Latonia Thursday morning. Leiliand, which is racing in Canada, having performed but once and indifferently, is a good looker and full brother to Halifax and Handzarra, both distinguished in an erratic way. Dan Murphy, of Cincinnati, well and favorably known, was savagely beaten by John J. Ryan, the get-rich-quicker, a few nights ago. In an altercation at the Standard Theater cafe, Ryan smashed a bottle over Murphys head and fractured the skull. Murphys cheek was laid open, requiring twenty-two stifches. Tonight Murphy was reported in an extremely critical condition. Ryan has not been arrested. The race for the Jockey Club Stakes of 10,000 at Newmarket Thursday was won by a grey horse, the French colt Le Sancy, with Lang second and Kerroki third. Toronto Globe. No. No. Sancy is Mr. William Bass bay horse, 4, by Diamond Jubilee Dame Agneta. Larig, not Lang, was seeond and he is a three-year-old by Florlzel II. Pilcroy. Kuroki, and not Kerroki, was third. Ho is a five-year-old gelding by Florizel Great Dame. The cable was very bad Thursday might.
