STARTING A WAR ON-ARCADIA. Pasadena, Cal., October 5. "Lucky" Baldwin and his Arcadia race track, the new Ascot, will have a bitter light on their hands, for a campaign of agitation and extermination lias been begun by the Womens Christian Temperance Union of Pasadena, and other similar organizations will join in the warfare. The Pasadena federation has a membership of 300, comprising many prominent and wealthy women, who have never undertaken a cause without carrying it through successfully.. The pastors of ail the Pasadena churches have been asked to take hold also and will discuss the subject from their pulpits on a day yet to be designated. The Los Angeles Ministerial Union also is interested and it is expected to take similar action. Pasadena is especially stirred up because the new track will be near that city and its opponents believe if they cannot knock it out before it gains good headway, the people will have no recourse. Arcadia is a joke as a municipality. Baldwin being the town, but having legal corporation, the county authorities cannot reach him.
