Salvidefe was reserved within close striking distance pursuit of the leader for a mile and a half, was momentarily pocketed on the backstretch when beginning the last six furlongs, then getting through a Small opening on the Inside and drawing out simultaneously with Running AVater, came away from the .latter after driring for a heartbreaking furlong and seemed an easy winner until again threatened in the linal sixteenth and only scored by a small margin under the whip. Running AVater, after trailing, closed up suddenly on the backstretch in the last time around and raced with Salridere head and head, then either tired or was taken back purposely and came again in the last quarter unexpectedly and was wear ing the winner down slowly at the end. Ballot was reserved in behind Electioneer for a mile and a quarter, then moved up, dropped back, however, at the half, but got up again and outstayed Electioneer for third place.
