St. Valentine broke badly, "as" usual, but was rushed up quickly to a forward inside position and finished out gamely, but scored a lucky win. Crafty worked through steadily on the outside, being pocketed and pulling up several times, came through in tight quarters next to the rail and just failed to get up. Yada, squeezed in between the first two, 1mished a close up third after being a prominent contender from the start and is improving. Rappahannock ran forwardly to the stretch, where lie- weakened. Standover steadily improved his position from a bad start. Quinn Brady outbroke and outpaced the others for six furlongs, then retired. Samuel II. Harris, away very badly, elosed an immense gap. Prince Ching, forwardly placed from the start, moved up rapidly on the outside in the stretch and, after swerving sharply into Lord Stanhope when nearing the end, came on and earned a ridden out second. Lord Stanhope, also In close pursuit of the pacemaker from the start, failed to get up after being badly interfered with in the stretch, but ran a good race. -T. P. Iten Ban was reserved in a lucky forward position to the stretch, then wore the leader down in a territic closing drive. Brookdale Nymph was sent along to set the pace and led to the final sixteenth after shaking oil Kentucky Beau, but finally succumbed to the winner in a grand race. Kentucky Beau beat the barrier and relinquished his advantage to the favorite, then followed her closely, but well in hand, loomed up menacingly in the stretch, but liually tired and was swerving at the end of his best race this year. Jack Atkin, away very badly and seemingly outpaced in the early running, closed a big gap in the last half in a cyclonic finish. Orphan Lad trailed far in the rear for half the journey and made up much ground in the stretch. Far West was unlit and Okenite was outclassed. A r7 U SIXTH BACK 1 1-16 Miles. Adoration set a tremendous pace, but succumbed finally after boring out in the closing drive and showed Tastly improved form. Gretna Green ran lapped on Adoration fur tiie first quarter, then dropped back and was waited with and finished well through the last quarter, but requires a strong rider to bring out his best form.
