NOTES OF THE TURF. Goodwin Brothers liave purchased at private sale for export, the two-year-old black colt York, by Buck Massie, out of Watersprite. Percy Taylor, once well known in connection with racing in Chicago is very ill. but not in danger of death, it is said, at the Petersen Farm, Five Island, Illinois. Barney Schreibcr is said to be conducting negotiations to secure another sire. The horse lie is after is Bill of Portland, by St. Simon Electric Light, out of a mare by Musket. Baltinglass was not favorite for the English Ccsarewitch. Ho ran unplaced. Demure, the winner, was favorite at 4 to 1, The White Knight, second, was 12 j to 1 and Wuffy, third, .10 to 1. Donovan was beaten thrice as a two-year-old by Chittabob in the Whitsuntide Plate at .Manchester, nnd by El Dorado and Gold in the Prince of Wales Stakes at Goodwood; and as a three-year-old by Enthusiast In the Two Thousand Guineas.
