Donovan was beaten thrice as a two-year-old by Chittabob in the Whitsuntide Plate at .Manchester, nnd by El Dorado and Gold in the Prince of Wales Stakes at Goodwood; and as a three-year-old by Enthusiast In the Two Thousand Guineas.
