RACING OF THE WEEK IN ENGLAND. Next to Ascot and Goodwood the York August meeting is the most Important of the English summer racing campaign. It takes place on Tuesday. Wednesday and Thursday of this- week, and in its course such long-established events as the Yorkshire Oaks. Prince of Wales Plate. Great Ebor Handicap; Convivial Produce Stakes. Duke of York Stakes. Great Yorkshire Stakes and Gmcrack Stakes will be run. Americans are but scantily represented in these events, but quite a number of other stake races for the meeting have closed recently, to which the Keene. Whitney and Belmont stables have prob ably made entries. The Prince of Wales Plate is a ,000 race for two-year-olds. Mr. Keene has four entries and Mr. Whitney four; but they are not likely to have much chance against such stars as Nell Gow. John Splendid and Galattne. Mr. Keene also has three in the famous Glmcrack Stakes and Mr. Whitney four, but here Tressady. Galatinc. Admiral Hawke. Greenback and other cracks are In the way. The York meeting will be followed by racing at Gatwlck on Friday and Saturday. -
