MARTIN NATHANSON GOING WEST. Martin Nathanson will leave Chicago tomorrow for Helena, Mont., where he is to otliciate as presiding judge and racing secretary during the state fair meeting which will be given there beginning September 27. President Taft will be associated with Mr. Nathanson in deciding the finish of the Taft ,000 Handicap, which will be a feature of the opening day. which occasion the president will grace with his presence. Mr. Nathanson expects to return to Chicago at the close of the Helena meeting, regardless of what decision may be reached relative to racing in California. In the event of a winter nicitlng at Oakland. Mr. Nathanson will, of course, lie connected with it in the capacity of handicapper. programmer and associate judge. He has as yet leceived no instructions from President Williams of the New California Jockey Club relative to the arrangement of a stake program for a winter meeting jit Oakland, which lends color to the advices from Xan Francisco that Mr. Williams is awaiting the pending decision of the California Appellate Court on the constitutionality of the Walker-Otis law before coming to a decision as to just what he will ilo for the horsemen the coining winter.
