ONTARIO AUTHORITIES TAKE A HAND. Toronto, Ont., September IS. "The provincial secretary has sent a letter informing us that the Metropolitan Racing Association must take out a license in the Province of Ontario, and on behalf of my clients I have replied, pointing out that as the object of the Jletropolitan Racing Association is not gain, they need not take out a provincial license." said attorney Hartley II. Dewart yesterday, when asked if it was true that the Metropolitan Racing Association had been ordered to take out a license, and had refused. "Well, it would mean twelve days racing at 0 a day 1909.sh00. That would mean a high court action, and that would mean more grist for the legal mill," replied Mr. Dewart. "It is decided, then, that no application will be made for a provincial license;" "Oh. yes. As counsel for the association, I have advised my clients that they do not need to take out a provincial license. Wo would pay the penalty before we would apply for a license."
