EDWARD JASPER SUCCEEDS E W MAGINN Kentucky State Racing Commission Disposes of Im ¬ portant Business Jockey Butwcll Reinstated Cincinnati 0 June 21 At a meeting of the Kentucky State Racing Commission held in the La ¬ tonia clubhouse this afternoon Kdward Jasper pres ¬ ent racing secretary was appointed to lill the vn cancv of handicapper resulting from the death of Kdward W Msiginn Walter II Pearce a well known turf writer was appointed to the position of raciug secretary with i ower to appoint an assist ¬ ant J H Campbell who served as an assistant to Kdward W Miginn for a number of years will be appointed by Mr Pearce to assist him himOther Other matter that received the commissions at ¬ tention included jockey Hutwclls case This rider was ruled off automatically for his failure to pay tin line of 150 imposed on him by the stewards for rough riding in the Kentucky Handicap at Douglas Park Louisville On the rceomniendition of the stewards the commission restored him to full privi ¬ leges legesAttorney Attorney Morey Kcinper appeared before the commission on behalf of G W Inncs and requested permission to look over the evidence submitted by the stewards on the strength of which they is ¬ sued the ruling barring Mr Innes from the La tonii course His intention is to appeal from the stewards findings and the commission will re ¬ view tlie case at a later meeting meetingCharles Charles F Grainger and General W H Halde iiinii were appointed a committee to draft resolu ¬ tions MaginnDr on the death of Kdward W Maginn Dr Henrv Hartill was appointed to serve as pad ¬ dock judge and veterinarian for the Latonia track trackPresent Present at the meeting this afternoon were Gen W H Ilaldeman Judge Allie W Young and T H Talbot the latter acting as chairman chairmanWalter Walter II Pearce who assumed his duties as rac ¬ ing secretary here this afternoon severed his news ¬ paper connections immediately after his appointment to positionJ his now position J H Campbell who will serve as racing secretary nt Fort Erie will depart for that track shortly to begin his preliminary duties pertaining to the meet ¬ ing
