The latter beat Gainer, the pacemaker, by a lice.; with Addie M. fourth, the same distance away. Addie M. came out of the race lame and it* is doubtful if she goes to the post again this year. H. G. Bedwell was forced to stand a raise of $.!03 to retain Borax after tlie latter won the third race. Sam Louis was responsible for the runup. Willie Shields announced that he will winter at the Beiinlng track this year, where he will ana a public training stable. Shields has a .-ouple of yearlings and two older horses to go into winb-r quarters with. The addition to the great number of high-bred mares, that have been brought to this country from abroad during the past six months, is certain to rpsult in great benefit to the breed of the American thoroughbred. One that arrived from across the ocean recently is Final Shot, a winner in England for three years.
