MORE MUD RACING AT D0RVAL PARK. Great Attendance Turns Out to View the Sport-Malik Wins in a Spectacular Finish. Montreal. Que.. June 3. — Despite unpleasant weather, a tremendous gathering turned out at Dor-val Park this afternoon. It rained off ami on all morning mid this afternoon. The beet finish of the afternoon attended the running of the second race, in which five of the eight starters finished in a close bunch, with Malik just managing to get up in the closing strides to beat Yellow Eyes by a nose. A I Pierce was best and would have won but for running out on the stretch turn. The Thorncliflfe Stable won its first race of the season when Raster Lily won the opening dash. She met a poor band of maidens, led all the way and at the finish beat Wall Street, the second horse, by three lengths. Lewis Garth left for Now York last night to attend the steeplechase mooting at Piping Rock this afternoon. Jockey Harvey Royle accompanied Garth and will ride one of the horses that he starts. He will return Sunday for the meeting of the Montreal Jockey Club, which opens at Blue Bonnets on Tuesday. Frank .7. Hryan. who will act as associate steward and hnndioapper at Hlue Honnets, is due hero Monday morning. William P. Riggs is also expected to arrive from Haltimore. The officials at Hlue Bonnets will bo practically the same us at Woodbine. Crawford C. Ross, secretary of the Connaught Park Jockey Club, was an arrival from Ottawa. He reports the new mutuel plant at Connaught Park fully completed, also that the track is in better condition this year than ever before, due to the new top dressing that was placed on it last fall. Henry Waterson owner of the Mirasol Stable, came up from Now York to enjoy a days racing. An addition to Mr. Watorsons string arrived freer. Jockey Wolstenholm was suspended by the starter for the remainder of the meeting for disobe-diance at the ]H»st. The apprentice allowance on Peg was waived by owner Dayton after Cruise was suspended and ti;e filly carried 107 pounds in her race.
