HERALD TAKES A RACE Outfinishes Exhorter in the Fea ¬ ture Contest at Mobile Glabella an Easy Winner Some SomeSix Six Thousand Visitors Prove ProveMobiles Mobiles Loyalty to Racing MOBILE Ala March 23 J T Looneys Herald admirably ridden by E Martin won the Gayfers Department Store Purse fea ¬ ture of the fourth day of the Mobile racing program Exhorter finishing second to the old son of Coy Lad and Jacobean was third thirdFrom From a good start Jacobean set out to make the pace closely followed by Herald When entering the stretch in the second time around Herald rushed to the front on the outside after Jacobean began to tire and Exhorter hard ridden raced into second place at the same time timeFrom From there on it was only a question as to whether the leader could withstand the challenge of Exhorter Because the Hendrie brod gelding was forced to come on the out ¬ side of the pacemaker on the turn he could not catch the latter but was pressing him closely at the finish and might have got up in a few more strides although beaten nearly a length for the money Exhorter was a wellsupported favorite and Herald was well liked likedNearly Nearly COOO persons turned out for the fcurth day with twenty oralizers in line Ladies were admitted free for the first time at the meeting The fair sex made up a large proportion of the crowd crowdThe The diminutive Zoona displayed nimbleness in saving ground while rounding the turns and gained a head decision over Flip in the opening race while Fleer took the short end of the purse three lengths back of the leaders leadersGLAIIKLLAS GLAIIKLLAS GOOD HACK HACKThe The second race at about six and a half furlongs resulted in an easy victory for W D Bernhardts Glabella While round ¬ ing the first turn she was forced wide by Pat Hampson but made up the lost ground quickly and scon took the lead Burger had only to ride her mildly from there to keep her in front by a safe margin At the finish Glabella held a threelength lead over Mani ¬ cure Maid The Cain filly raced into second place early and although tiring held on game ¬ ly in the final drive to beat Old Top by a head for second place The latter was an easy third before Pat Hampson HampsonAmanda Amanda carrying the colors of S Jones took the lead at once in the fifth race at five eighths and was never threatened She was under mild riding at the end to hold Prop ¬ aganda safe by a length and a half Mickey Moore was third Mickey Moore was Amandas closest pursuer in the early run ¬ ning and saved ground on the turns but dropped back early in the stretch racing into sixth place He then came again under hard riding and passed several tiring horses to get third place Amanda was strongly supported and went to the post at oddson oddsonT T Shearns Marjorie Wood won the third race from Friilge and Josie M She was a wellsupported favorite Fringe moved up quickly after making a rather slow start and lacing The Muleskinner into defeat raced into a clear lead but when Marjorie Wood came with a challenge in the stretch the pacemaker tiring from her early efforts gave way Marjorie Wood then raced on to win by a length while Fringe took second place by a length and a half from Josie M which closed a gap while racing on the out ¬ side
