April 13.— The last official act of the Howie stewards was to suspend It. Benton, with his f ur horses Vexation. Sea Tide, Storm Cloud and Miss Uezetto. It was also recommend-d that this suspension continue pending further investigation. This ruling came as a punishment for two races run by Vexation and the uncovering of evi-| dence that long before the running of the first race, in which the horse was beaten, the program was broadcast in a tipping letter sent out and signed by O. M. Oxford, with a Washington address. F. J. Kearns, who was training Vexation after the two runnings of the horse, refused to train the Benton horses any longer and he came clear in the investigation that followed. It is known that there was evidence enough s me days ago for action, but the stewards delayed a ruling in an effort to find all of those guilty in the case. The fact that further investigation is to be ma le tends to show others will come under the ban in Maryland. The exact wording of the ruling was : "Owner R. Henton has been suspended, together with the four horses Sea Tide, Storm-| cloud. Vexation and Miss Bezetto, with the recommendation to the Maryland Racing Commission that this suspension be con-I tinued pending further investigation."
